ABOUT
The Ultimate Frisbee Club at Kromrey offers playing opportunities for students in grades 5 - 8 from September through October. Students in 5th/6th grade practice twice a week together and students in 7th/8th grade practice twice a week together. Kromrey ultimate also offers a Girls/Non-Binary Ultimate Clinic once a week for just female matching players in grades 5-8. We offered this for the first time in 2019 in an effort to grow and support female and non-binary identifying students and it was a big success, so we're going to keep it going! (Female and non-binary matching players are also encouraged to come and play on the night that their grade practices.)
Practice schedule will be as follows:
Practice Attire:
Students should do their best to bring/have the following for practice:
Competition Information:
Competition Attire: Student athletes need to have a red and a white t-shirt/jersey to wear for our games. It is highly encouraged that you purchase a Kromrey Ultimate Jersey through Simply Swimming (see jersey section below). Cleats are HIGHLY encouraged - students without cleats will be more susceptible to losing their footing on the field when changing directions. Bring extra clothes/layers to put on after the game (it will cool down and I don't want people to get chilled on the drive back). BRING YOUR OWN WATER!!!
After School Activities Bus:
The after school activities bus is only available to students who take the bus in the mornings. I have to notify transportation 2 days in advance if a student will be taking the after school activities bus. The after school activities bus arrives at KMS at approximately 4:45, so anyone needing to take the bus will be released early from practice. I have been told from my administrator that the after school bus makes "regional stops." This means it might not be the exact bus drop off site that the student might normally have, but it will be close and still within walking distance. Please email me if your child will be needing to take the bus and if yes, which days they will need transportation.
* Please note: It has not been communicated to staff as to when the after school activities bus will be up and running. Please plan on making your own transportation arrangements for the first week of practice.
Weather:
In the event of bad weather (rain, thunderstorms), I will send home an infinite campus message canceling practice as well as have it announced over the Kromrey intercom for students to know.
Practice schedule will be as follows:
- 5th and 6th Grade Ultimate Club will practice from 3:45-5:00PM on TUESDAYS & THURSDAYS on the Kromrey Outdoor Field. (First practice - Thursday, Sept. 8th / Last practice - Thursday, Oct. 20th)
- 7th and 8th grade Ultimate Club will practice from 3:45 - 5:00PM on MONDAYS & WEDNESDAYS on the Kromrey Outdoor Field. (First practice - Wednesday, Sept. 7th / Last practice - Wednesday, Oct. 19th)
- 5th - 8th Grade Girls/Non-Binary Ultimate Club from 3:45 - 5:00PM on FRIDAYS on the Kromrey Outdoor Field. (First practice - Friday, Sept. 9th / Last practice - Friday, Oct. 21st)
Practice Attire:
Students should do their best to bring/have the following for practice:
- athletic shorts/pants (depending on how hot/cold it is)
- t-shirt/long sleeve (depending on how hot/cold it is) - If they have a reversible jersey, they won't have to wear one of my pinnies.
- water bottle!!!
- cleats (soccer cleats work well) - gym shoes can work, but changing direction while sprinting is much more difficult if you are not in cleats. If your child does have cleats, please remind them that they must change into their cleats OUTSIDE. No cleats inside the school.
Competition Information:
- 7th & 8th grade: The 7th & 8th grade ultimate club members will have games against other schools in our area. Schedule TBD.
- 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th: The MHS Ultimate Club will host a middle school ultimate tournament on Saturday, October 22nd at Taylor Park in Middleton for students in grades 5 - 8. Fill out this SURVEY if your child is interested in participating in the tournament. Tournament participation costs $20. If your child needs financial assistance with the tournament cost, please reach out to Coach Reynolds! This tournament is a fundraiser for the Middleton High School Ultimate Frisbee Club Teams.
